Zhirui could not accept Daddy's new hairstyle

Just a short post here.. Today, hubby had his hair cut really short in preparation for his reservist. Zhirui cried when she saw his new look. Tink it's becos she couldn't recognise him & tot Daddy was a stranger! haha.. :D

After a few moments, she reconciled to Daddy's new image but was still teary when she looked at him.. :(

丫头's first words..

Zhirui has been delighting us with her acquirement of language. Before memory fails me, it's better i quickly enter this blog about her first words.. :P

According to my husband, she blurted 'Ma Ma' at 8 months. (hmm.. so young meh??) Well anyway, what I do remember quite clearly was that at 10 months, she repeated 'red' after me during our reading time. I tot i was dreaming! Subsequently. she has spoken 'yellow', 'blue', 'green' before my husband. Genius!

Proudly bracing her 11th month, she further amazed us with words like 'flower', 'pen', 'bus', 'car'..

At this point, I reminded myself not to be obsessed. More imptly, it's about making use of language proficiency to deliver joy, peace & enlightenment to herself & others. :)

Grains

I got inspiration to create this topic while researching on the nutrition of polished rice versus millet. Millet is an excellent source of iron and magnesium. It's also high in calcium, phosphorous, manganese, zinc, and B vitamins. Have been feeding millet to Zhirui since she's 6 mths old. Polished rice, shockingly, is the least nutritous among the grains..

Wedding at HortPark

We attended Xiujun's wedding at HortPark last Sunday. Dressed Zhirui in a pink dress. It is a lovely place and we took nice pics. Ruiqin got a cute nick that evening.. haha.. Uncle SpongeBob. :D

祉睿陪妈妈考状元

Last Sat, we took Zhirui with us to TG for DJZYS. Zhirui was the observer as I underwent the sutra recital test. She was very quiet and I could see from the corner of my eyes that she was in fact listening attentively as I recite the sutras. Seemingly, she knew that she should be respectful at that point in time. I'm truly proud of her for this good behaviour! :)

This is a photo of her socialising with young and old friends at TG. The boy in the picture, Shanghua, especially loves playing with Zhirui.

Continents

I'm now steering towards Physical Geography topics.. Remember those days in sch where we learnt how movement of tectonic plates gave rise to various landforms? Let's see.. valleys, volcanoes, crater, plateaus, ridges.. The works on Mother Earth is simply marvellous!

Zhirui's got a new friend. 小叮当! She loves finding him among her pile of pillows and blanket. And their all-time fav game is hide & seek.

Pluto is out.. (Oh no.. not from Disneyland)

Extracted from National Geographic webby: Pluto has fallen out under the new definition for planets.

"According to the new definition, a full-fledged planet is an object that orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due to the force of its own gravity. In addition, a planet has to dominate the neighbourhood around its orbit.

Pluto was demoted because it does not dominate its neighborhood. Charon, its large "moon," is only about half the size of Pluto, while all the true planets are far larger than their moons.

In addition, bodies that dominate their neighborhoods, "sweep up" asteroids, comets, and other debris, clearing a path along their orbits. By contrast, Pluto's orbit is somewhat untidy."

History: Humble Factory

Our nephew Jue Jue was enrolled into Shichida class at 18 months and we learnt from his parents how right brain training do wonders to unleash a child's potential. We were soon marvelled by Jue Jue's photographic memory & rapid retention of information.

Before long, we found ourselves strolling down Popular bookstores and picking up flashcard products for zhirui. Besides the series published by Ta Chien, the rest were utter dismay-- substandard quality in graphics, printing & paper.

Other sources either exceed our budget or are not up to expectations.

Clearly, DIY was our way out. And.. this marks the beginning of our humble Flash Card Factory. :)

Doo doo daa.. Zhirui zhirui little star

Doo doo da.. Doo doo daa.. zhirui's first music composition. Inspired by her ah-gong who taught her to 'drum' her lips. hmm.. see if we can get to record it down one day.

Then again, this might be a precursor to saying 'daddy'. :)

Eh-hemm.. My first voice

Gee.. I can't imagine I'm writing a blog now. Being a verbally unexpressive person (my husband knows too well), it can be quite a hurdle to start opening up to the cyber mass. Hopefully my often dull expressions of tots and stuff won't kill this new-found joy of writing about my daughter.

Ah.. my darling girl, fondly called Ya Tou or Fo zi bao bao is the spark of this blog. She's already 10months old. :) I regret not starting this blog earlier to cast the growing-up spits and laughters of Zhirui into memory.

So I guess in my coming blogs, will try to capture whatever morsel memory of zhirui's growing up, maybe right from pregnancy..
